I wish to convert my 47 to 15 inch tires and rims. Am sure I will get a better ride with modern radials. Recommendations for wheel backspacing, rim width, and tire sizes. Everything is stock except it came with a CCP front disk kit. Any advice would be great.

Tim , Allen thanks for your reply. I have a 1947 3100 half ton Pickup. Want to ditch the skinny wide whitewall 16" tires and put a meaty 15" radial
on her. Main issue is backspace and getting a tall wide 15" for better ride and handling. What would you suggest Tim ? Will ck out your tire info Allen.
Also want to try to keep my org center caps for traditional look.

Most likely, you have the standard 6.00x16, not the 6.50x16.

I have radials on the 6.50x16, with no problems.

Maybe someone with experience with radials on 6.00x16 wheels will post their experience?

would love some direction as to how to identify the standard rim size for 41 3/4 ton chevy truck. the rear drums are substantially larger than the front, it came with American racing wheels and eagle radials. I would like to find original style rims and fit with radials but seem caught because of the extra large drums on the rear. any body got a clue ,point me in the direction of the correct wheel.
