Slowly making progress on the 55.1 but am a bit stuck. Running a '62 261. Wondering what linkage setup anyone has used running the dual webers and a 200 4R or 700R4 with the TV cable. Did you use the original linkage/pedal? Aftermarket pedal? How to run the TV cable? Any help is greatly appreciated. I've read thru the recent posts and found great linkage info but did not see anything on one with the TV cable. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2014 Posts: 357 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2014 Posts: 357 | I used an aftermarket pedal and cable. Don't know what a TV cable is pertaining to a pickup.

It's required with the GM 200 4R and 700R4 transmissions. The cable functions similarly to the combination vacuum modulator/cable systems found on other automatic transmissions. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2008 Posts: 1,922 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2008 Posts: 1,922 | | | | | | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,851 Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) | | Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,851 | The 2004R transmission might not be the worst transmission GM ever built, but it's in a close race to the bottom with the Roto-Hydramatic. It's an overly complicated modification of another piece of driveline excrement called the 200 Metric. There are some excellent reference sources on the geometry and setup of 700 R4 TV cable linkage in non-OEM applications. It's difficult, but not impossible to make the TV system work right. Stay far away from early production examples of the 700 which had chronic problems with the torque converter lockup clutch failing to release when the vehicle stopped, causing the engine to stall. Has both text and photos with measurements. The carburetor makes no difference but the geometry is mandatory. I have a 2004R in my 37 Buick because I'm lazy and didn't want to modify the frame and floor pan to take the much better 700R4. After replacing the second gear band twice I parted with $337 and got the TCI constant pressure valve body which pulled the TV cables teeth as it no longer figures in pressure settings but is now just a shift point selector.

Some areas of the throttle's range move the transmission valves at different speeds. The diagrams don't explain how the motion is different, but show who the parts work. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2011 Posts: 139 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Nov 2011 Posts: 139 | Thanks everyone. I already have the TV cable set up/adjustment info. I'm more concerned with how to attach it to Langdon's 2x 2bbl set up. Hoping someone out there has this combo in their truck already and can send some pics of the linkage attachment. | | |
