good afternoon, i purchased a 1938 canopy that had a 235 motor with a t-5 transmission and a nissan rear end. my son and i were able to redo brakes, the fueling system and we were able to fire her up...but it wouldnt go into gear. i was told to check clutch and work backwards. so we took off drive shaft, removed tranny and the clutch i took to a shop to check it. brand new the guy said so we put it back on, but as i was trying to mate the tranny onto the bell housing the bell housing cracked. some guys told me maybe too long the shaft ?? but it was on before i took it all apart. BUT i did see this spacer on it. thats what i thought caused the problem of not going into gears...
any advice?
i need a new bell housing too, anyone have one for sale?

AHH! a little JB weld will fix that right up. LOL.

How about the input shaft pilot bearing? Looks a little crusty. If that seized up, it wouldn't let the clutch disengage. I guess you can check that when you take it back apart to fix/replace the bell housing.

If you didn't get the disk lined up with the pilot bearing on reassembly, that would cause the input shaft to hang up and cause what happened to the bell housing.

If you're smart enough to take it apart, you darn well better be smart enough to put it back together.
