What is the trick to oil/grease hood spring on a 49 -3100? How are the springs separated? Also what oil/grease is used? Thanks

I just use a white lithium spray myself, being careful not to get it on everything.

Will lubing them make them stop squeaking? Every AD hood I've owned has sounded like a haunted house door.

I find the sound musically calming myself, similar to the hollow thunk when you slam the door..

Never noticed a sound when I open the hood. Instead, I'm thinking about if the motor will start when I turn over the key.

it is a reassuring haunted squawk yes smile
i too have sprayed and oiled, and still... that sound.

maybe if one would strip all the parts, then nickel plate or anodize the spring and other bits, then reassemble with a final hot wax dip.
prob won't last, as soon as the plating wears through, the sound may come back.
