Has anyone experienced oil seeping up from around the distributor shaft in a 206? Is there an easy fix? Having this issue on a 1936 1 1/2 ton truck. I've cleaned the road draft tube and still having the leak.
There are very knowledgeable members on the "discussion board", and not much BS. The old guys are usually correct with their knowledge and advice, if you want to stay stock/original.
Between the shaft and the housing. If there was an o ring on the shaft I think it would stop the leak but an o ring would not allow the vacuum advance to work. From what I’ve seen these were designed with no o ring or gasket
KevFF217; Do you think the "oil leak" is coming from the grease cup on the distributor, or could it be engine oil ? What is your approximate oil pressure on your dash gauge for the engine oil PSI when the motor is running? Enclosed is a diagram of a transverse elevation for a 1936 206cu motor , hope it assist you.
I checked the grease cup, not it. It appears to be engine oil. It is for sure coming from between the base of the distributor and the top of the housing...where the distributor shaft goes into the housing. It runs about 15psi pressure at idle. Slightly more at higher RPMs. Thanks for the diagram! I wonder if it's my oil pump leaking that is allowing oil to run up the distributor shaft?
