i have a 1954 235 engine in a 1951 chevy truck and the original throttle linkage i bought doesnt fit at all. the bar that the pedal presses on sticks about 5 inches through the firewall which is way too long. the bar that goes from the swivel to the carb however fits very nicely. my original idea was just to cut it, re bend it and drill a new hole for the pin. anyone have any better ideas or something im missing? lemme know!

The position of the bellcrank pivot pin on the '54 engine may be wrong for your '51 truck.

I think I had a similar issue when I put my '62 235 into my '50 truck. Don't remember exactly what I did but it was a good excuse to spend some time in the shop doing some bending, cutting, welding, etc. Maybe someone has some other suggestions. Do you have the motor's original linkage, which maybe be too long? Cut and ZAP ZAP!!

i think when the previous owner had the truck he parted it for a few things and the throttle linkage mustve been of of them. i just talked to my friend whos at that big swap meet in pennsylvania hes gonna look for one.

i corrected this. there is two studs in the block one containing a flat head screw and the other for the linkage. surprise surprise the threads on both match up so i just swapped them and now it fits like a dream! the hole where the screw was went straight into the block because coolant leaked out when i took it out so i also put some thread sealer on the stud. ran it for a good 4 minutes and it held perfect!
