For helping keep this great

on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 197 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 197 | Are the body panels on a 1 ton the same size as the 1/2 ton models? I was curious because I see a lot of comments about 3/4 and 1/2 but never anything about the 1 ton.
Also if they are does anyone know if a 54 GMC door is the same as a 52 Chevy door?

I've read this in several of the different forums. | | | | | Joined: Apr 2007 Posts: 146 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2007 Posts: 146 | Cabs are same, front parts and rear parts, side parts. That is.. *as far as I know.*
Now, "body Panels" I am assuming you have a truck, and well, not a panel 1T. I dont know if your asking about thickness, length or width. But a 1/2T OR 3/4 ton WILL NOT fit the bed length of a 1T. All tailgates will fit. And pockets will work. But not in length.

I hear they were the same I just wanted to make sure before I purchased the truck. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 197 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 197 | I am getting a 1 ton that I would like to drop down a bit, but I cannot get anyone to tell me if you can swap out the spindles in the front easily and put a standard 5 lug on there. The rear I know can be swapped out easily. I have an issue with the size of the dually might cause me some issue getting in the back yard. I was wondering if I can run a dual as a single and how far the center piece would extend past the first wheel, I do not think it adds that much to the truck but I do not know. Also what would be the best doner for a single rear with a higher gear. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 3,458 Extreme Gabster | | Extreme Gabster Joined: Oct 2001 Posts: 3,458 | Jackyl, I suggest you re-post that over in General Truck talk, but if you want to swap to 1/2 ton spindles you have to swap to 1/2 ton axles. The king pins don't match.
