My doors were real close to hitting the fenders, so I decided that I would adjust the doors. I took off the front fenders to get to the bolt on the hinges, plus the kick panel to get to the hinge bolts. Now that I have it lose, I tried to put them where I thought they would fit best, but now the door latch is too low and too far to the back.

How is the best way to adjust the door correctly and what tips and or tricks of the trade do I need to know to get the adjusted correctly?

you don't have to have the fenders off to get at that bolt - the only way is to have everthing else fit reasonably, put the doors on with the bolts finger tight, close them, tighten from the inside - both latch pieces are adjustable, and the fenders can be moved slightly too

not easy to get an even gap all around because they often came from the factory poorly fit, and they'll always be "close" to hitting the fenders, all you can hope for is to get it so they don't hit

the factory spec calls for the front center of the door to be 1/8" inboard of the fender, which helps prevent hitting, the dogleg should be flush, and there should be 5/32" min gap all around - adjust front/back with the door side of the hinge, up/down with the pillar side .... good luck
