Today it was an airbrush to finish up some controls inside my cab and to be able to do some easy touchup work without breaking out the big boy and having to clean it up.
We stopped at Hobby Lobby to look at paint stuff ERR... I mean wreaths for the fall decorations. The good airbrush kit was 149.00 and the cheapy was 80 buckaroos. Sadly I paid for the @#$%^&* stuff she picked out and sulked. Next up I had to go to Big Lots. I always look through thier knock off tool stuff. I buy zip ties, brushes, tape, and other junk there. WAIT WAIT. . . Whats this. . . AN AIRBRUSH!!!!!!!!! at Big Lots. Get this, it was 8 dollars. main components were steel and brass. It came with 2 glass pots, a 4 foot line, and an adapter to hook up to shop air. I am going to use it tommorow and if it will atomize the paint and lay it down for me, I will be impressed.

I touched up some bolts with it. At 4 inches it sprayed about a dime size pattern that was tight with little overspray (30 psi). I did find that I needed to thin down more than I do for my HVLP because of some slight spitting. I had a battery box that needed painting so I tried that to see how it did on larger surfaces. I could get about a quarter size at 6 inches and 45 psi. That was about as good as it got. and at that point and pressure it was hard to control overspray while overlapping.
As far as bolts, nuts, and knobs go, it does great and gives a good finish. I've painted 99.99% of all my work with a 15 year old model, it had never given me any problem. I just replace the older one with exactly the same model. I find I can turn it down to a find point and use just about 30 psi to do my work, although I do tend to thin down my paint. Just drilled out the headlight for 12 volt ICL and am working on the tail light now. Did you scratch build the camper shell for the chevy? If so that looks great. The engine treatment for the '47 engine area is great too.
