For those that attended the car show at Solenbergers True Value Hardware in Winchester a couple years ago to see my son's bluegrass band, Marv Ashby and High Octane.... they will be there again on Saturday the 22nd at 2 pm. I'm sure most will be busy at the Tri-State show, but a quick convoy would be cool. I'm sure Jack would like to see you guys again.

Tri-Sate should make them the night act!!!
That will give us a reason to party! Oh wait............ we don’t need a reason! But we would have an excuse!

Pulled my trans, clutch and flywheel. Now to drain the oil, drop the pan, loosen the mains, then replace the rope seal. Clutch was already rebuilt and waiting on the gaskets to arrive. No pressure, plenty of time dang!

I guess I will be going for a drive that day since I won’t be able to drive back to VA for Winchester. Drink a beer for me! I will be back in the future AND drive my truck successfully to events!

From y'all president's desk...

Looks like we have 15 signed up + or - a couple men and a dog, and the wonderful, colorful Artie and his kin from Maryland!

See you there, and as them NASCAR guys say, "Keep the rubber side down!"

Crap! I'm out.
There is a huge local show At the Virginia Beach Aviation Museum that has requested me to bring 2 of my AD trucks as they are making a special feature of some sort for the show. I am also going to peddling my wares there.
Dang it all.

Winchester, for us true ODSS fans has become our Superbowl, World Series, Graduation ceremony etc. of every year. Those who can make it renew old friendships, trade parts and advice, and meet new like minded truck enthusiasts. I know I am not the only ODSS guy that feels this way.

Those that can't make it for various reasons are missed and their absence is completely understood.

One of the best moments for me is being welcomed into the camp by CC Billy Marlow, Artie, and Mike Roach who early on formed the die cast Homecoming Corral that we ALL are welcomed into EVERY year. I hope they know how great this feels and that their efforts are so appreciated. Our Corral has become a must-stop for other camps to visit and a source of much pride and joy!

Darn, I feel a tear welling up in this old Shellback's one good eye, the one without the patch, AARRRRRRRGH!!!

ODSS forever!!!

Both the CC and the ACC are a little late to set up camp this year. It's usually done Wednesday night. I should be on the road by 0700 and have mission accomplished by 0900.
See you soon.

BTW, if any of my deputy Attorneys General (e.g., Dave or Jim S) could take over my cases and prosecute the docket coming up at the formal proceedings (People versus Hambone -- indictments on 1 count ea of High Treason and Attempted Murder; and People versus Amtrak Joe -- for which I did not yet read the case file, the SAA can read you in on both ... smile ).

Muddying the waters -- a little -- is the (marginally) regrettable fact that Hambone is, in reality, entirely innocent. However, as the actual perp is vital/critical to the overarching grand (if not somewhat evil ... smile ) masterplan I have set in motion for Stovebolt.com, a suitable patsy is needed. Hence Hambone. Your job, in addition to building an air tight (but still completely fabricated) case against brother Hambone, is to convince Hambone of the greater good of "taking one for the team."

Hambone's defense is being led by no less than the Camp Commandant himself -- forget your feelings of friendship here -- be ruthless! And a little prep is in order. Feel free to indict him as a co conspirator on the treason charge if his defense gains any traction.

Carry on. I expect complete success or I will charge you both with ... something.

smile
John

Presiding Judge over the court proceedings, will be President Cosmo. I am well known to each mirror that is gracing my likeness to be incredibly fair. Even though I have photographic evidence of Hambone walking towards my truck with a yellow fuel container, and please don't get me started on 'GO PACK!' JOE. Fairness will be maintained, but I have forewarned said defendants that dogs are not allowed in holding cells, and the cells themselves are wanting in creature comforts. If I may be so bold and proud to add..I am the judge responsible for piping in all prison cells the music and dialogue of the Disney Channel (24/7/365). This action is involved in a lower court proceeding in regards to the complaint it is cruel and unusual punishment.

I wholly and fully object to the premise of the proceedings. As i stated previous, i was not within 10 nm of the scene of this fabricated crime. And believe me it surely is fabricated. A fabrication of my unawares perpetrated by none other than an unrepresented, unpresent grand pooba and an over endulged sergent at arms - the only present parties during whatever crime they are conspiring about. What is this a banana republic or a steady society? I can produce 2 chickens as my witnesses. And if they cant speak on my behalf then i will permit them to soil someone or something at a later date. Now then, go about your business. I am confident winchester will be a positive influence to my integrity.

Guilty or not guilty, justice or injustice, and the integrity of the accused are all irrelevant.
What must not be lost in all of this is the severity of the charges.
Good luck to you Brother Hambone. You will need it. A bigger boat, or at the very least, some chest waders are indicated. As you well know, "It" gets deep during these proceedings.

Hambone -- Leave your 'wares where they belong. No one (not even Don or Carl) wants to see your 'wares. That's just unsanitary.

Dave -- Consider allowing the chickens' testimony (I think Miley's testimony on Joe's behalf in the great Topper Caper Case set a precedent that the People won't dispute at this time) -- *IF* he can produce them in court Saturday. But do not allow written depositions (that will just get messy ...). Hambone relying on barnyard fowl to save him from the firing squad ... if that's what Brother Haworth is building his defense on, I think you could let our summer interns argue this one smile

Joe's case, on the other hand, will be the toughie. Save your big guns for that one. It's not going to be the slam dunk the Hambone case will be.

Jim -- Sorry about the engine -- opportune lift just could not be arranged.

The weather here at the show was perfect cloudy with a breeze this morning and a little hot and sunny this afternoon, nice tonight and should be good tomorrow too.

Lots of nice trucks to look at but not as well attended as previous years.

Good collection of Stovebolters so far, more tomorrow.

Another Winchester come and gone. I’m sitting in the campsite, everyone else is gone. Waiting for my copilot who ought to be here soon. Thanks to all that made it and made it a great time. We certainly missed those that couldn’t make it and hope to see them next time.
The weather was great most the weekend and held out till we all went to bed last night little after midnight. Woke up to rain. It made for a damp morning but it could’ve been worse so no complaints here. Hope everybody makes it home safe and sound and hope to see you soon.

Thanks to all that supplied the fine dinning and companionship! chug shake
Made the drive home in pure comfort (Joe’s nice new Dodge Ram with all the bells and whistles) drivewith an excellent co-pilot! Pop’s is a wealth of knowledge and life stories. It was a pleasure having him as my co-pilot!! Joe and D. J. Thanks for the assistance in getting her home and tucked into her bed. Now I'm eating this poor excuse of a hot dog, :(especially after enjoying Mr. Marlow’s gormet dog’s! Then headed to the portable so called shop to get dirty and start tearing that poor 216 apart to see how severe the damage is!
Till the next time, take care all!

I just got home too, a pretty nice drive with cool temperatures, sprinkling rain, and no wipers.

It was as great to see everyone and play with trucks.
Thanks for Billy and the rest for the outstanding camp Stovebolt hospitality.
Thanks to DJ, Pops, Mike, Sweet, and Cosmo for troubleshooting the carburetor malfunction that Phill saddled me with.

Need to make a trip up north again real soon.
