I took off my spare tire carrier from my /53 half ton 2 years ago for restoration. Now I can not remember how it goes back on - not talking the fancy ones over the wheel well, but the one thtat mounts up under the back of the bed...any help on this.....??? anyone got photos. I know that's asking a lot, but bless you in advance.

Can't help ya JD but I would like to see a picture of the parts you took off, maybe layed out on the ground. If someone sees this maybe they could tell you how it goes back together.

Don't know if this is what your looking for ohwell , but on this page of the 1929 - 1954 Chevrolet MASTER PARTS and ACCESSORIES CATALOG that Keith Hardy posted there are some pictures. Ed

She's one 55 year old with a spare tire that looks good!
It's not rocket surgery. . . .

Look at the next page on the link posted by fredoly (if you have not already done so). It shows the 1/2 ton spare tire carrier - the style that slides out - used on pickups in some years.

We've all seen the dozens of versions or more correctly, opinions of under bed spare carriers. But I would like to see JD's version to add to my "spare tire" folder in my referance library.
Would really appreciate it if you could post a picture of the parts you took off your's JD.

Think that the Chevy's carrier went to the side like the link. GMC (at least on my 1949 half ton) was one that drops down and slides aft.

FREDOLY got me the information i needed, guys. thanks so much.....
I would love to post my pictures if it helps anyone. Seems I had to blow torch the main post for the hanger under there....ouch. The matter of placement, by the way, is not "opinion" at least in my opinion. There is a correct under-bed carrier. I just forgot how it goes back on. I am the second owner of this truck, my great grandpa's old farm truck chevy. From 1954 til his death in 1972, he drove it into downtown wilmington (NC) to sell hog meat, vegetables, and chickens on a weekly basis. I have restored it all original....or at least, "repro" original. Perhaps I can get some photos on for everyone in the coming weeks. thanks for all your help

Glad to see you got it figured out JD. I'd still like to see the pics of it before and after you get it mounted up. Like I said before, I'm trying to compile a spare carrier folder for my referance library so any thing like that is welcome.
