Just wanted to verify the factory colour on my 1941 fire truck, which was originally a ww2 crash truck.
The paint code on the build tag is 134; I’m assuming this was fire engine red? I should also mention this is a Canadian truck; not sure if the paint codes differ between Canada and the US back then.

Could have been Olive Drab Green if it was in the military...

Mike; it doesn’t look like it was ever green, and it probably didn’t matter as it served at a flight training base here in Canada, so it was no where near a combat zone.
When it comes time to repaint the truck I am curious if the paint code 134 on the tag is a fire engine red right from Chevy? If so, that would likely be the red I will repaint it; as I’m sure you guys know there are lots of different shades of fire red.

I can't help with the Canadian paint codes and don't know what color Red Chevrolet Canada used in '41.

My first question is, did Chevrolet Canada build the fire body or was the bare Cab and Chassis shipped out to a vendor and up-fitted? If they sent it to a vendor, then they would have painter the entire truck their shade of red, so the entire truck matched. That's the way my '57 was done...Cab and Chassis was bought in Cardinal Red, then shipped to John Bean to have the fire service body installed and then they painted the truck and body in the shade red the VFD requested. My fire wall is still Cardinal Red while the rest of the truck is a Dark Red that's almost Maroon in color. I don't know if they built them that way for WWII in 1941...

Mike; I’m guessing that’s how it went; that’s still how it happens on my department.
I was just curious what paint code 134 was in Canada back in 1941

What I have seen before is, the fire body is painted to match the cab. Do the cab and body looks like they got repainted over the years? Try to find some original color, ex firewall and inside of a compartment door. Do they match?? The firewall is probably the factory 134. You can always clean a spot and get the color scanned..
