With 5 old trucks in the drive, the wife says one has to go. I have been trying to sell a '67 IH Travellette (350 Chevy powered) 4 door truck on Craigslist and Ebay with no luck. I had one guy contact me and offer body work on another one of my rides as trade for the truck I can't sell. He own's a body shop about an hour away, so this didn't sound like a bad deal. My problem is that I don't know what $1800 dollars worth of truck should get me at a body shop. I have a '51 3100 that needs a little rust repair at the windshield/cowl area, outer door skins, cab corners and a few dings fixed. Would fixing these areas, priming, and painting the truck be too much for the $1800 truck trade? Should I expect more or less work for this amount? I wanted to get some idea of what the labor was worth before I agree to deal with the guy. Any thoughts?

I would get the body guy to look at your truck and identify what he would do for the equivalent amount. Then draft up an agreement defining the situation. I would then get the body work done first then transfer the vehicle.

Sounds like a fair exchange.
