Greetings. I have this 54 GMC dump that needs brake parts, specifically the break slave cylinder and has a dump hydraulic leak whatever that motor is under there that operates the dump. Any suggestions are welcome and thank you for your help. Does anybody have any idea what model this might be also? [img]http://[/img]
Best thing is to get the Casting number off the cylinders in question, take that number to local NAPA store. Some brake cylinder parts are listed by dimension, I.e. 1 3/8 diameter, hone out the cylinder.

Hy DFoote, welcome, as EdPruss has said your brake wheel cylinders may be able to be identified using the casting numbers. As to the truck model, look around on the cab firewall and the door posts for the body serial number plate, also look at the engine to the rear of the distributor for the engine serial number stamped into the block, on GMC engines the first three digits of the engine serial number represent the engines cubic inch displacement or size. As to the hoist, again look around scrape and clean the surfaces of the mechanism where and around where the p.t.o. driveshaft enters the mechanism, you are looking for some kind of a plate or stamped numbers to identify the manufacturer of the hoist. If you could provide us with a lot more pictures someone here may recognize the hoist component manufacturer, hope that helps.
If one cannot find cylinder kits, search by cup diameter, of course that requires one must disassemble the whole works. My '54 GMC requires 1 7/8" cups, the dimension which appears nowhere in GMC literature. I found some, so I will name the source if they really fit.
