Hey Guys,

I am planning on installing a radiator overflow on my 53 chevy P/u but looking over the factory Manuel, it is suggesting to install the radiator right where the heater motor is located. Or at least where one of the screw holes would be located. I assume that back in 53 someone must have at the heater and the overflow. So what did the dealership do? The manual suggests coming over 4 7/16" from the Panel Mat fastener hole and then down 3 5/8", which would put the upper left hand side screw hole for the overflow, directly in line with the heater motor.

I don't see any harm in just coming over just 3 inches and keeping it in line with the fastener hole (not moving it down the suggested 3 inches). The only thing I see that could be awkward is that I would still be over the heater mounting bolt where I will need to thread a bolt, but perhaps there is enough clearance??

What have others done in this situation?

Location isn't as critical as you think as long as it isn't too low. Some mount on the radiator mounting frame beside the radiator and others mount on the inner fender and even on front of the radiator support behind the grill.
Basically find a spot where it will fit.
I added this ACVW windshield washer reservoir for a radiator overflow on my 49 3100 using the heater screws.

It works fine.
I added an aftermarket overflow tube on my 49 GMC and I mounted it next to the radiator on the support frame. It also works fine.
