In my long search to find a pumpkin for my 50 3600 I just found 3!2 are standard and 1 is a posi-trac. The junkyard thinks the positrac will bolt in, but wants me to count the number of splines on my axel. That I can do tonight, but I wondered if any one knew off the top of their head. If it will fit there is an advantage, but what are the down sides?? Any help would be greatly appreciated. What can you tell by looking at a used pumkin??

The unit you are referring to has a Detroit Locker in it.
The down side is that it will cause increased tire wear and possibly some loss of control in slippery conditions(ice/snow,etc)
The up-side is that it will have better traction. It will make some clunk/bang noise when it goes around corners under heavy throttle but that is normal.
How much are they asking for the unit and what gear ratios are the units?

4:10 $175 FOR STANDARD, $250 FOR POSI-TRAC. THIS IS A VERY COUNTRY YARD AND WILL DICKER. I'M NOT MARRIED TO THE POSI, BUT HAVE NEVER SEEN IT MENTIONED ON ALL THE FORUMS.
