I just received the right side mirror parts (arm + mirror). The arm fits over the hinge and has a tab that is supposed to fit behind the hinge mount. I have tried to hammer it in (with a rubber mallet) but can't seem to get it to fit in. I have tried to loosen the bolts holding the hinge to the frame but they won't budge and I don't wont to bugger every thing up trying to force them. Is this a problem others have run into or am I just going to have to "file to fit"? interestingly, the old mirror can be tapped into place, which does leave an option. Bob
Did you get the new longer hinge pin also? I wound up not needing that.
I wasn't real happy with the design of that part, it looks nice and seems of decent quality but it doesn't fit the hinge and the angle doesn't match that of my original left mirror mount.
So, what you gotta do is take a pair of calipers to that bracket and you'll notice that the flat surfaces that go over and under the hinge are not parallel. The top of mine was square to the pin holes but the bottom had a taper. I used a 4" angle grinder with a new cut off wheel to grind the surfaces until the arm slipped right into place and I reinstalled the original pin.
Hi Bob, Had the same issue just two days ago... I had to file off a lot of aluminium from the tab to fit it in its slot, now the small threaed hole in the tab disappeared and i cannot secure the tab to the hinge through the countersunk hole in the hinge. Anyway, it 's a tight fit now and it should not rattle while driving. Difficult to capture it on a photo, but you can see the filing marks on the photo! Regards, Sven
