Had the truck running well enough to take it to the muffler shop to have the second half of the tail pipe made and then next door for a GOOD tune up. He repositioned my distributor by one tooth, determined that my vacuum advance was not working (one on the way from Jim Carter), adjusted the carb, and got the idle down to 650. He also sold me a re-buildable Rochester B (manual choke) to replace my BC (auto-choke). All for $100. He seemed to think my 55 engine had a 59 flywheel. Now to spend my time on minor issues, like a weak brake system.

Life is good again.

Sounds great that your engine is running smoothly now. Weak brakes don't sound too much like a minor issue though when you need to stop and the truck only sorta slows down.
