Has a later model 235 engine that runs very well but shifting out of third gear is a
Real chore. Just doesn’t want to come out without a lot of
Force. Shifts well into all gears and out of all but third. It’s a three on the column
Any ideas?? | | | | | Joined: Jul 2013 Posts: 160 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jul 2013 Posts: 160 | Check all of your linkages for funky bends, adjustments etc. Best to get the FAM and service manuals for details.
Also, open up the little linkage box and see what treasures are there. Mine had some worn shim pieces that were jamming up the works. Clean out, inspect and adjust, and re-lube. The forks can get worn, and might be spent, or welded and reshaped if you can.
Also, you can 't shift it like a modern tranny. Push the lever straight up out of third with an open hand, without pulling front or back and let it slip into neutral. Double clutch and go to your next gear. FYI I didn’t mention that that when engine is off the thing shifts like silk. Thinking that linkage and internals have no crud or linkage problem. Think I’ll take to a transmission shop that I know well. Will let them check out,repair and install new clutch plate. I’ve been anxious to use this as an errand vehicle. Can’t wait to enjoy the experience ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜. I’ll post a response on fix and a photo if I can figure that out.
