There are 8 of them, about 3/4" diameter and about an inch long with a shoulder on one end. Just wondering what to use these for.

The early model 49 had a center cab mount at the rear. Which one do you have?

Put it together on an extremely tight budget (ex had a coniption every time I wanted to spend a dime on it) so I didn't put mount kit in. Redoing it now so thought I might as well do it right.

What I did was to use a floor jack with a couple of 2 foot 2x6's stacked on top to slightly lift the body of the cab up from the frame...only about an inch or so. I then removed the entire bracket, cleaned, then lined the inside of the bracket with silicone caulk to protect the rubber parts in the future from dry rot-water infiltration.
The top two bolts are tricky with the seat and gas tank in the truck as mine were but it can be done. I held the upper bracket in place with a tapered punch in one hole and started a bolt in the other. Once the two upper bolts were in I found I had to lift the cab one or two more inches to help allign the frame bolts. If you're in no hurry the job's a breeze.
Replace your front cab mounts as well, you'll be shocked at how well the truck rides!

I bought a '50 1/2 ton mainly for the frame as it already has a Camaro clip and rear end in it. I'll be transfering my entire body to that frame, so I'll put the mount kit in when I do that. Thanx again.

Those cabs have the shackle set up int the center of the back but are suposed to have two tall rubber stoppers on the outer corners as well. Just the center shackle is not enough. I replace those a couple of years ago and just sitting in the shop it sags a little. I just can't find a complete kit that has the outer mounts. | | |
