Hi all, I’ve recenty acquired a 1948 GMC 300 and it has two factory e brake handles side by side. Any ideas as to why there might be two? It is an old Gin Pole lift truck with a pto driven winch.
Thanks in advance!

Hi Logan, welcome to the site. I can't answer your question but I'm sure someone more familiar with that era of trucks will chime in shortly!

It sounds like the handles might be for PTO engage and brake. Have you tried to follow the linkeage?

I agree with Ed. On my 1948 GMC 1.5 ton, there is one lever just to the right of the shift lever, it is the e/parking brake lever, it has a release handle. To the left of the shift lever, and further back toward the seat, there are 2 levers on one pivot, one engages the PTO, the other engages the dump. Yours may have one lever on that pivot to engage the PTO. As suggested above, follow the linkages and let us know what you find!
