I'm getting parts together for my bed, and I only have one good cross sill. My understanding is that the cross sills for the one ton are different than those used for the 1/2 and 3/4 tons, but I haven't been able to locate a source for them. Anybody know where I could find them?

Thanks

Tim

I am currently digging back in to a 1953 3800 (one ton) with a nine foot bed. I've owned it since 1979, and drove it until 1982 (or so). My wife got me involved in restoring it back in 2002, got the body removed and the frame redone, then things came up. Now I am retired and starting again. If anyone is interested I have photos on Imagur ( https://timwhiteblues.imgur.com/ ). I live way back in the woods in the Ozarks on 40 acres at the end of a 2 1/2 mile private road.

Blues man,

I had the same problem. I bought some u channel and built my own. They were very easy to make but mine didn’t have the extra flanges that the originals had.

I have a 1/2 ton. I used 2" x 2" hollow steel tubing for the cross sills rather than ordering new sills. If you can't find the ones you want for your 1 ton, perhaps your local steel supplier can help you out.

Bluesman,
Part Number: 110436 for the one ton cross sills at Mar-K manufacturing in Oklahoma City. Only place I know of that carries them right now. I also made my own several years ago, quite different from the 1/2 & 3/4 ton models.

Thanks for the replies. I looked at the Mar-K site, but only saw the middle ones listed. I will also need the front and rear cross sills, which I think are different than the others. Those things are pretty pricey, might look into making up my own, if I can find dimensions. It seems everything for the one tons is either not made or high priced. It surprised me, when I started on this project, how different they are. Not just a bigger 1/2 ton!

The truck I have is a 1950 1-Ton. It has 4 of the cross sills shown on Mar-K site plus the rear cross sill. My bed does not have a different style front cross sill, the first sill starting from the front is only about 6" from the front bed panel. I'm not sure if the 9' bed you have from 1953 is any different, but I wouldn't think so. The front bed panels are different from the 1/2 & 3/4 ton models also, they are available. Hope you are able to get everything you need for it, those 9' beds are a good draw at a show, many people have never seen them before.
