Putting in a sbc in my 39. Which motor mounts should i use? I am resessing he firewall 4 ". I like the ones Chassis Engineering sells (seperate mounts) but with the pie shaped frame they may not work, it looks like there would only be one part of the frame that they would fit and wouldnt allow for moving the motor forward or backward. Anybody ever use one of the universal mounts (bent tubing that goes from one side of the frame to the other)?.

Would like info on the Chassis engineering mounts from somebody that has used them on a 39-40 p.u.

no bodys put a sbc in a 39? need some help, which mounts did you use?

I used the C.E. mounts on my 46. The directions and measurements were fine. The mounts are tapered to fit the frame. So if you are going to move the engine I would use different mounts. If you use the HEI distributor you need to modify the firewall. But if you use the old style point distributor or up date that style it would fit.

lugnut, where did it place your motor is relationship to the stock firewall?

The top edge of the valve covers on both sides are under the bottom of where the indent starts or horseshoe. The top rear corner of the valve cover is just slightly back of that corner. You can put your thumb between the corner of the valve cover and firewall where it makes the 45.
