For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Feb 2013 Posts: 250 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2013 Posts: 250 | Sometimes I get stumped by the easy stuff! Do I measure pulley width at the bottom of the groove or at the top? On my '48 Chevy 1Ton with the screaming pump, the original 216 has been replaced with a 1953 216, serial number LBA216243. The belt is 5/8" wide at the top but sits a little proud of the pulley so I'm thinking I need a smaller belt. I see both 3/8" and 5/8" pulleys listed for the '53 model engines and I'd like to get the correct pump and belt. Can '48 pump be used on a '53?
Thanks in advance for the advice! Gord and Fran, I'm not sure your question is completely off topic as I'm located on the wrong side of cracks on the only two way road out of where I live, about 3 miles from where the lava started flowing. The County has covered the cracks with pieces of metal along a 1/10 mile stretch of Highway 130 but there is steam coming from underneath the plates as well as on the sides of the road. If that road completely fails I'll be physically stuck here. Both my '48 GMC and '48 Chevy, along with a '72 MGB are still at my house. None of the 3 are currently safe to drive owing to various problems that I'm working on with my limited skills and I havn't found anywhere to put them that is even remotely affordable. I'm hoping to find a place where I can put up some tent garages and get them moved. No danger for me, just possible marooning. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2000 Posts: 2,200 Insomniac | | Insomniac Joined: Jul 2000 Posts: 2,200 | Thanks for the update.
