The eye in one of my leaf springs is worn into an oval. One side of the bushing was completely destroyed. I figured I'd just get new springs but when I was talking to a guy at my local FLAPS store, he recommended I get the spring repaired. He claims that a wallowed out eye can be repaired with an insert and made round again. I don't doubt that it can be done but I'm wondering if it would just make more sense to get new springs. Has anyone ever heard of this being done? Inserts for wallowed-out leaf spring eyes?

So do these folks: St. Louis Spring I've bought springs from both and were happy with both companies. Both make them to original specs or custom.

That FLAPS guy should be fired and prosecuted for giving out dangerous "advice".

I wound up ordering a pair from St. Louis Spring. They had the best prices available and they ship quickly. Good guys to deal with.

They are good people to deal with. When I've been in St. Louis I can give them a call first thing in the morning and then stop by in the afternoon and pick up my springs and u-bolts. I'll be buying a set of front springs from them next month.

I also got new springs from St. Louis Spring. I was very pleasantly surprised at how nice the truck drives with them.

I got a set of rear springs for my '62 Falcon from Davenport Spring Co. I loved telling people I was using Davenport springs on that little car. The puzzled looks I'd get smile

For those who do not speak Iowanese or were born after 1932, a davenport is a couch-like piece of furniture. They have springs in them. Get It?
(Good one, twotone! smile )
