| | | | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,889 Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) | | Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,889 | A former neighbor (now deceased) and his wife drove an early-60's half ton Chevy with a 235 3 speed from Merced California to Tennessee in the early 1980's, towing a huge 2-axle trailer loaded with all their worldly possessions on it. He said there were a few times he had to drive a few feet uphill, have his wife jump out with a wheel chock to keep the rig from rolling backwards, and let the old engine rest awhile, then repeat the process. I was amazed he made it around the block with that rig, let alone travel 2500 miles! The trailer was badly overloaded, and the truck bed was full, as well.

So I loaded up the family and moved to Tennessee (can you hear the Beverly Hillbilly's theme?  ...it didn't look much different). Me, wife, and dtaugher plus 1 dog & 1 cat...towing a honda behind my 55 1st series truck. Google maps says it's 2640 miles.
