| | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 19 Apprentice | | Apprentice Joined: May 2005 Posts: 19 | I have a 1949 Chevy one ton that needs its engine compartment hood replaced. I would like to pull the hood off of a 1948 Chevy one and a half ton (1.5 ton) and use it on the one ton.
Will this hood swap work?

From what I know the cabs are the same and can be interchanged. Logically the connections to the cab must be the same, thus I do not understand why these hoods can not be swapped.
Fenders accommodate larger tires, but the hood need not do so, does it?

Roughly speaking,The 1-1/2 and larger ad trucks hoods are about 3 inches LONGER front to rear and more gradual in the radius of the fender to hood joint.
They will bolt on at the cowl and fit fairly close,BUT be too far foward to even be close to the hood latch/striker panel.
