The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Driveline question regards tailshaft

I have a 1934 1 1/2 ton truck the tail-shaft has a (grease nipple/oil nipple) located half way along this shaft there is no point for the oil to flow out of there other the join to go up to the gearbox,
my question is how much transmission fluid do i put in there the lubrication chart tells me it is S A E 160 oil but nothing gives me the quantity that needs to go into this shaft any advice on how much.

I don't have the answer to the question you asked but I do have another potentially helpful tidbit. My '36 Chevy pickup also needs 160 oil and I've found a true 160 gear oil. It is Lubriplate SPO-288. The "600W" stuff that the antique car parts vendors sell is not even a gear oil. It is a steam cylinder oil.
