The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Paint and Body Shop Mirror location problem

First off, not sure if this falls in this category but since body work caused this problem....

Truck: 3 window 54 3100
Problem cause: previous owner frenched in a hidden antenna right were the passenger mirror mounts

Problem: need passenger side mirror as 3 windows have major blind spots for normal driving and backing into small garage is tough

Looking for suggestions : like to keep it close to original and d not want to use California mirrors (I think that is what they are called)

Peep mirrors? How effective?
Or
Different location for mounting round mirror arm ?

Any thought or advice is appreciated as it will save me some money and time

You can never have enough mirrors, US postal delivery vehicles have 11and they still managed to hit my gate the other day. (you could of landed a 747 in that opening, but that is another story.
Basically you are driving blind on that side and I hear what you are saying, my PO put an antenna there too where the mirror goes on the passenger side and removed it during body work and installed the correct mirror. Still even with my 5 window it is minimal. A peep is far better then nothing, unless you are thinking electronics with cameras. Other than that I have nothing sorry.

Precious real-estate in that area for sure. A couple of pictures that show other than original mount locations.

Here's a pic of my mirrors. I bent a driver's side post to use on the passenger side. I wanted a symmetrical look.

Of course, I can't use the passenger side mirror since the cab post blocks it. But Mrs. Wally can use it from the passenger side.

Wally, I have always wanted to know what the truck would look like w/ larger rectangular mirrors and now I do! Maybe some day.

In my younger days, I drove truck and lived and died by my mirrors and stock is correct in that I am driving blind - not a comfy feeling on multi lane roads.

Mopar guy, your pictures have given me ideas.

For now, I am probably get a peep mirror and cover it with the biggest spot mirror – i mostly use the spot on my other truck when driving and normal mirror when backing up.
