I'm not wanting to get TOO fancy, but what is a good option for brakes/hubs on my 47 3/4 ton?

Dachshund, Are you trying to rebuild what you have? Do you need venders? To change out what you have and go to a Disc brake...we used to have a genterman that sold those, but he passed.

I'm just spit-balling, but I think you can/must swap drums and backing plates from a 54 (53?) or later axle to install the Bendix style brakes, not the whole axle... I also think the hubs are the same. I know the oil seals are the same for HO-52/72 axles right up to 1972.
Maybe someone who really knows something will come along shortly. wink

GM 14 bolt axles are plentiful, inexpensive, modern brakes, modern ratios.

Its easy enough to change out the Huck backing plates from the front end, but the rear backing plates are welded to the rear axle tubes.
