I am new to these awesome trucks. I recently acquired a '46 1.5 truck with a huge wood/steel dump bed. The wood is shot but the hydraulic ram still works. The truck runs and drives with the two speed rear end. I love it.

The only thing I don't care for is the big bulky dump bed. Being that it needs work I figured what better time than now to fulfill my vision of converting it to an Open Express bed. I have found only a handful of pictures of these trucks in the Open Express configuration.

Does anyone know if these beds are reproduced? Or by chance does someone have measurements I could take to a steel fabricator to make me one?

Also what rear fenders do they use?

Any help is appreciated.

Years ago, there was a Company that reproduced the Ford Script Flat Beds, but I don't think they still exist. I did however find by doing a google search of "Ford Script Flatbed", there is a guy that has drawings from a original bed, that he was planning to re-create. May be worth taking a look at. Flat bed, and/or stake beds used no rear fenders. Got any pictures of your truck ? When you say "Open Express Bed", are you talking about the pick up truck style bed that was used on 1 1/2, and 2 ton trucks ? If so, it's not reproduced either.

Yes I am referring to the pick up style bed that was used on 1.5 and 2 ton. I was hoping someone had measurements or something I could go off of

I don't have measurements or any other information, but I do have these shots I took of a truck at the Macungie, PA show in 2010. The truck appears to be a 1.5-ton. On other express bodied trucks like this we've seen, the rear fenders were just regular pick up rear fenders but mounted on spacers to set off from the side wall. This truck looks like it has the spacers but is missing the outer fender parts.

I wish I could tell you more but all I know is what you see here. It was a neat truck, I took pictures of it and walked on.

Good luck with your project -- sounds like it will be nice.

Different truck, same idea. Also at Macungie in '10. Note the Detroit upgrade...

The factory made those in the mid '30's, the tan one is just missing the outers as stated.
