For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Apr 2010 Posts: 436 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2010 Posts: 436 | I have a 1962 C10 (X-Frame) and I need to replace the carrier bearing. The problem I am running into is that the 2 bolts are buried in the center of the X and are very difficult to get to. On my old '63 C10 (ladder frame), there was easy access to remove and replace the carrier bearing.
It looks like I will need to remove the front driveshaft and the emergency brake system from the X before I can access the carrier bearing bolts. Is this correct? Is there an easier way to do this that I'm missing?
Thanks in advance. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2000 Posts: 1,974 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2000 Posts: 1,974 | Maybe this link will help you find the info you need. https://www.stovebolt.com/techtips/chevy_manuals_60_66.htmI should remember how to do that as I replaced the carrier bearing in my 66 C10 with an X-frame...
