My guess is that your Shift/Caps key is not working: Can you post/attach a photo of the ID? (upper/lower case letters and some numbers sometimes look the same) Is the a Fisher Body Number or Vehicle Number as shown at the link below: http://www.1954advance-design.com/chev-specs/1942-candt-ser.pdfWhat kind of truck (pickup, flatbed, etc), and, what is the wheelbase? bfr494239 BF = 1942 1-ton or bigger truck R = ? | | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,100 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,100 | Hy ash not so, welcome, could you please tell us what size the wheels/tires(tyres) are and the number of nuts that hold the wheels on. Also the wheelbase would be helpful to identify what model/size truck you have. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,233 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2004 Posts: 6,233 | Welcome to the Stovebolt Is this a Right Hand Drive truck? And I could not measure the wheel base sorry as I did not have help to measure properly, also it is a flat bed and yes it is right hand drive thanks again for the help everyone | | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,100 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,100 | Hy ash not so, so we now know that you have at least a 1 1/2 ton truck, which is indeed a big bolt, hope that helps. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 5,096 Crusing in the Passing Lane | | Crusing in the Passing Lane Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 5,096 | Yes, sounds like 1.5 ton. 1 inch equals 2.54 cm. I mm equals about .040"(.03937). Those tires are probably 20" at the rim. The bolt pattern is common and is called 5/10, which has been used up through the '90's at least, although with a slightly larger hub diameter. So, in the 'States, at least, the first use of tubeless tires in the late '50's, with 22.5" tires and rims, on farm trucks, mostly, will fit these axles with the use of a .25"(6.4mm) thick adapter ring.
So, I don't know what was imported to Oz, but if you find some 22.5" rims with that bolt pattern, grab them, they will bolt right up. Sort of rare in the 'States. 9 X 22.5 tires work well.

I also have a lend lease 1 1/2 to truck R/H drive and I live in Rockhampton QLD Australia I found my chassie number on the L/H side of chassie. Does your truck still have the 3 blackout driving lights. your truck sounds like most things are similar to mine. Are you in Australia??? Cheers Justin | | |
