I have a 62 C-10 with a 235 6cyl and 3 on the tree. It’s 100 in the summer here. I want to install A/C. Do any of you know if the 235 does OK with A/C, and do you have any advice on the type/brand that works best? Thanks!

I installed it about 6 years ago and it was a clean install using the factory controls already installed in the dash.
I had to specify V8 when I ordered it. I know they make the mounts/brackets for the I6, you just have to specify what you need.
As for the power, I can't comment from experience, but have heard it is functional, but will take a bit of your power on the 235. I know others have done it. Maybe they can comment on their own experiences. | | | | | Joined: Mar 2018 Posts: 2 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Mar 2018 Posts: 2 |

This was some years ago at a cruise. The rotary compressor was mounted high on the engine above the generator. I think it had an under dash unit, so was probably dealer or aftermarket installed. Don't know about power consumption.

Al the components are the same. Compressor, clutch, evaporator, blower, condenser, accumulator. Buy the kit or buy the pieces. Sanden compressors are the most popular. It's all about budget and if you want to do all the work to assemble the parts, have the hoses made and have it evacuated and filled. It is a DIY friendly install. Not high tech.
Mount everything and hose it up.
As far as motor size. A/C will always take power away, but many vehicles with small motors have A/C. A 235 is not that small. It DOES have a tendency to cause overheating in a hot state like mine. Some folks have to upgrade to bigger radiator/better cooling system. Especially for stop and go driving.
