OK, I replaced all the brakes - cylinders, pads, etc. and the hard and rubber lines throughout on my '46 pickup. I installed self adjusting brakes. I adjusted them until I got just a bit of touching when spinning the wheel. The pedal still goes to the floor pretty easily. Is a master cylinder rebuild the next step? The cylinder that is on the truck does not seem to be original. It's a Delco, and one side has the number "5456121 and 1" DIA" cast into it. From my research this seems to be the casting number. On the end of it it is stamped "5456118 320-N". I can't seem to figure out what the right rebuild kit is. I think it came off of something like a 56 or 57 Bel air, but I am not completely sure. I suppose I could just replace it - there is a Wagner M21000 that looks like a match, but I would like to keep the one that is there if possible. thoughts?
I just danced this jig on a modified 49 Jimmy recently. If you haven't already, go to rockauto.com and start matching pics & specs. But thats no guarranty as there could be internal differences like required rod length etc. You might try calling a booster & M/S rebuilder to see if they can help you. Many on a google search will want pics and will give you a rebuild or replace price. Good luck Dave
