I'm in the process of putting new upholstery on the seat in my '47 1/2 ton with 5 windows. I have looked into the cardboard seat back. I purchased one from my FLCAPS and found it to be quite different in look to the picture I found on Jim Carter's site. The one on JC's site has the cut outs and appears to be approximately 8 inches from top to bottom - just enough to hide the springs of the seat back if you look into the cab from one of the corner windows. The one I purchased will cover the back from top to bottom. I have never seen the actual cardboard seat back in an AD truck. Whenever I go to a car show and see an AD truck, I never look in the back windows. Also, the radius at the top corners of the cardboard isn't right. That's not a problem as I can trim the seat back to match. Could anyone provide the height (top to bottom) of the cardboard back? I do have the original fasteners so that's good. Any info greatly appreciated. Thanks.
p.s. did some more searching and it appears that the seat back for 1955.2 to 1959 looks more like what I got. The part number, however, matches the back for 1947 to 1955.1 in the vendor's catalog.

Thanks, Brad, that gives me a good idea of the size. From the picture, it looks like the cardboard tucks inside the frame. I was going to just lay in against the frame.

47 5-window ?? Can somebody straighten ME out please I was told that the five windows didn’t come out till 1950 But I’ve got a 49 pick up verified by the numbers that also has five windows so I’m assuming that five windows came out before 1950
Still looking for group/number, but the Data books in 1947, 48, 49, 50, 51, mention the panel with option No.390. It drops off in 52, it lists Deluxe Cab in the index but the page reference only shows corner windows (option No.387). I don't have a '53 book but in '54 and my very rare '54 GMC book (Canada) it does not mention the panel. It looks like it may have been eliminated around '52, a lot of changes with the Korean conflict? It is referred to as the "seat back trim panel." In the Salesman Data Books for those years I mentioned above. At least I can narrow my search now in the parts books.
My 53 had a maroon piece of cardboard behind the seat back same color as the door panels, I dont think it was full size to the bottom of the seatback though. I will try and locate a picture

After a lengthy trip through my parts books, both GMC and Chevrolet I can find no number for this part. They certainly exist, the data books and survivors confirm that. Maybe one of you will have better luck!
The 1947-1954 Chevrolet Truck Factory Assembly Manual shows Part numbers (Check Attachments) for the Seat Back Trim Panel but the numbers don't match in the Master Parts Catalogs.

I don't know why they have two RPOs for the rear corner windows in the Factory Assembly Manual ?
The Seat Back Trim Panel must of only been used on seats that where installed in a RPO rear corner window cab.
FYI, CCAB = Conventional Cab I saw it in the 29-54 MPC but not in the 29-57 MPC. Took me awhile to figure that one out. it was not in the abbreviation list.
