I'm having a tough time getting the cable end attached to the hold-down lever on my 51' brakes. I'm pulling back the spring to expose the cable end, but it seems difficult to get the cable in the lever groove. Does the cable just slip in the groove of the lever or is there a special way of attaching it. Please help! | | |

I assume in the drum and don't remember any special problem. Yes I used some needle nose pliers pulling the spring end back in order to hook the cable end. Is the opposite end of your brake cable still attached? If so, this might be helping create the problem for you. http://community.webshots.com/photo/111968325/118130571KWnzxp

other end before you try this. You may need
some curved, long, nettle nose pliers to make
the job easier. It can be a real pain. The
cable should just slip into the slot, but
repeating myself. Make sure the other end of the
