Installing gauges finally in my '48 today and after installing the cluster gauge I thought the speedometer would be a real snap. "Wrong"
It turns out that the passenger/right side bolt on the Column support bracket was too long to install the gauge. I reused the exact same bolts too! (at least I thought I did) I dug around and found another shorter bolt and it clears the bottom of the speedometer case but not by much.
Has anyone else ever ran into this issue or is something off center for me? The steering column and 3 on the tree line up dead center in the dash cut out but the speedometer seems to be closer to the column than the cluster gauge.
I think it's time for an adult beverage after lying on my back a good part of the day.
This is not my truck, but "yea" the gauges don't center up with the column, wow! And I discovered this the hard way, surprised I didn't notice this mis-alignment earlier!
Do you have the spacers (washers) which go between the top bracket half and the bottom of the dash? They often get misplaced. They will take up the extra length which is getting in your way.
