After I installed h4 headlights with led halo on my truck my blinkers either blink slow or not at all (light up but solid light//no blink). The speed of the blinkers seems to increase when engine RPM higher. I’m running an led flasher. Have led taillight/blinkers. Blinker bulb in front are normal. Saw something in catalog called led dummy load box. Will this help? Where does it go in the line? Any other thoughts to fix? Thanks!

Make sure you have the polarity correct on your lamps, they are polarity sensitive. Also, grounds are always important especially when running higher current devices.

Increase with speed indicates voltage drop, do you have large enough wires with a relay close to the lights-look here for relay discussions.

I’ll check. If headlights are on separate fuse, will they still affect blinkers?

I'm not sure what you are saying in your original post. Do the blinkers work normally when the headlights are off?

Turning on the lights increases the load on the system, so yes, they can affect the blinkers.

As Ed suggested, increasing the engine RPM allows the charging system to compensate for the increase in load. If the charging system cannot keep up, there may be a problem with it. (generator, belt,, regulator, battery, wiring).

I'd start by testing the charging system. Get a VOM and see what the voltage is at the battery with the engine running. Does the voltage drop when you turn on the lights? (more that just momentarily)

Thanks for the reply. I’ll check the volts w/ lights off and on. Now that you mention it, the blinkers act funky with the lights off. It must be a ground or led load issue. I’ll check the grounds and put leds in front so it’s all the same.

Don't forget to top off the blinker fluid!
