I am looking for a paint/body man in the Kansas City area. The sheet metal of this '66 K10 has been stripped and is presently in primer. The cab, doors, hood, cowl extension, grille support are in very good condition. The hood has a number of pin holes at the front lower lip and the doors have a number of holes from the various mirrors that have been on the truck. The bed panels are rather rough with creases, as well as some rust-thru.

I am restoring this truck for a fellow stovebolter and I am not a paint/body man, nor do I have the tools/equipment to do it properly, therefore I am looking for a local shop that may be a possible candidate to perform this work. Perhaps someone in the Kansas City area has experience with a local shop or performs this type of work.

Input would be greatly appreciated.

I do body work for a large collision shop here in KC. Unfortunately I dont have extra shop space.

Suburban Auto Body in Merriam, well more like a rod shop, is always working on several AD trucks.

Talent(sp?) auto body up near oceans of fun does nice work...Eric

Thanks for the prompt reply. I have the shop space, however no tools or experience. Are you for hire?

I am aware of Suburban. My good friend has had a few projects done there. They are out of my league when it comes to budget. They are one of the best, however a $10K paint job is out of the question for the customer's budget on his '66 K10.

I will keep snooping around, until I find the right match. I appreciate your input and let me know if you are for hire. Perhaps you can take a look at my shop/operation and see if it is a fit.

I am looking for a body man/painter for hire in the Kansas City area? I have a '66 Chevy K10 that has been blasted and primed. I have repaired the rusty areas with patch panels and it is ready for body work and paint. We are looking for a body/paint man. Thanks.

Thanks for coming by the shop on Monday. Any thoughts on your visit? Lee's '66 K10 may be more than you are willing to tackle, however I do need prep and paint on the front fenders, cowl extensions, grille support and hood for my '66 C20.

Let me know your thoughts and thanks for your time.

Tony,
As I mentioned on Monday right now I just dont think I have the time to tackle Lee's truck. Even if we meet numbers wise, I hate to comment to something not fully knowing. Not fair to you and Lee.
So as right now I gonna pass on Lee's truck.

But doing your smaller projects I dont see a problem, we could start darn near any time.
I can swing by your shop again sometime and look over your stuff and talk to you about what you want. Just give me a call.

Also be interested in talking with your friend up in smithville.

It was nice to meet with you and look forward to hearing from you...Eric

Thanks for coming by the shop. I understand regarding Lee's '66 K10. It will require some time and effort to complete.

Do you have an idea of what it would take to prep and paint the grille support, front fenders, cowl extensions and touch up the hood on my '66 Chevy C20? If you need to visit the shop again, let me know and I will have Lee meet you there to open the gate and shop.

My friend in Smithville is Steve Fisher. His information is:

Fisher's Collision Repair LLC
Steve Fisher, Owner
17616 Thomas Lane
Smithville, MO 64089
816-365-9539 (cell)
816-532-3417 (shop)

I know him through my father Bob Smith and his friend Jerry O'Donnell. Steve painted Jerry's '57 Chevy Nomad, canary yellow a few months ago. Tell him you got his information from me. He expressed an interest in hiring a paint & body tech.

Give him a call and see what he has to offer. Good luck and let me know your thoughts on painting my '66 C20 parts.

Tony,
I would need to look at those parts, as I really didnt take to much notice.
When you get back in town would be fine with me, of if you want to get going on it is fine to.

I will give Steve a call and see if he needs a hand during the weekends. Thanks...Eric

I would like you to take a look at it, even though I am out of town. That way you can give me an idea of what it will take and how long. I will be able to tell you, one way or another, on how to proceed. Let me know your availability and I will have Lee meet you at the shop. He knows the program.

I hope it works out with Steve. He seems like a good man and his shop looks pretty well equipped, especially his custom booth.

Let me know your availability to look at my '66 C20 tin. Thanks.

Tony
