I'm Steve from Switzerland. I have a 51 1/2 ton and I would like make a stock restoration. But I have a problem to find a dealer for the paint.
I have all the Dupont code for the paint, thanks Stovebolt (example 93-1863R for the exterior, C8306 or 202-81407 for the interior) but it is impossible to find the paint in Dupont Europe.
Has someone a solution or an address to buy the paint ?
Thank's in advance.
Kind regards.

They have all the old colors in a searchable format and will ship. They have enamels and two stage paints. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 | boltare,
Did you have to register to be able to search the color listings?
If not, would you please post the link?

But it is impossible for me to buy the paint in USA because the ship through air mail is forbidden and the vendors wouldn't ship by "boat". I tried to obtain the paint with the modern code found on this site( http://www.speedprint.com/Deves50/paintcolors.php )to Dupont but the code in USA and Europe aren't the same. I tried too to obtain the RustOleum spray for the interior but it isn't imported on Europe. It's really a big challenge to obtain the original color paint. Perhaps the last chance is to find some body who will accept to do and send me an paint ship. Do you know someone interested ? Kind regards. I go to Europe on occasion, but cannot bring it in my suitcase due to government restrictions. How much paint are you talking about? At times I have ocean freight shipments going (but not very often) and possibly/maybe/hopefully I could stow the paint in the container without violating safety regulations.
Next question: I don't get to Switzerland. Is it possible to ship from Italy or UK to Switzerland?
How much documentation would be required for such a shipment? VAT/customs/duties?
I would like to help you out, but I worry that it might be further complicating things!
I am really surprised that an auto repair shop is unable to match paint by code. Is it possible that ICI has a "paint translator" from Dupont/PPG to theirs? Just a thought...

In reading this topic, i didn't see where this is discussed. | | | | | Joined: May 2007 Posts: 1 Junior Member | | Junior Member Joined: May 2007 Posts: 1 | Hi Steve,
There is a company in Italy that makes the most delicious lacquer paint in original colors I've ever seen. I'm sure they can ship it to you in Switzerland with no trouble.
If you have success please report back and maybe you can ask them if it's possible to ship their paint to the United States?
This came off one of their labels... ========================================= Lechler Lacquer Paint - Italy

Talk about irony.

Many thanks Bill for your proposition to ship the paint. But like you, I think it will be very difficult to complete all the authorization and documentation.
Strat, you have right, in Europe you have computer to read color chip, but I haven't a color chip. This is THE problem. The cab was completely repainted few years ago and I haven't found a part with original color.
Thank you wblynch for the italian address, but witout color chip or paint code I can't do anything. Perhaps do you have the paint code for italian ?
Now I will contact reseller like "Filling Station" and "Jim Carter" and I'll propose to make color chip. I'm sur many people out the USA will be interest to obtain color chip. Beside on ebay I found some resseller who propose original color chip by Dupont for the exterior paint.
I will report back the result.
Have a nice week and success with your stovebolt !
