For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,983 Sir Searchalot | | Sir Searchalot Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,983 | Steele has two part numbers listed for 55-59 door rubber. 60-0416-72 $71.80/pr and 60-0485-72 $57.60/pr. They told me there were two types used those years, "flat" and "round" and to check which type I have. First of all I never heard of this before, second of all they both should work if the factory used both on the same doors and same bodies in 55-59 they both have to work, third of all I don't have any old ones on my 56 GMC Carryall. The only answer is that they had two suppliers with two designs? and either works? or they are smoking their own rubber out there at Steele. I got samples, which doesn't tell me anything. Everybody, I say everybody else has only one type offered? What the heck is up? and forth of all why would I not buy the cheapest one?

One has mitered corners and push in clips. The other doesn't have corners or clips. Strickly glue on. Buy the good ones with clips and glue in tight corners and any spot that looks likes it could be a problem. They fit rel well. | | | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,983 Sir Searchalot | | Sir Searchalot Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,983 | thanks for the reply but I'm not talking glue on clip on type differences, I'm talking two completely different cross sections. Round with a hole and flat with a "slit" cross sections. I don't know which has clips and which is mitered of these either. they are probably the best rubber around, made in USA. Their web info is awful, doesn't say clip or mitered and they even show the wrong door for 56, they used their 47-55 door picture I guess. that's not professional. make a proper drawing for 55-59 doors for your world wide web site for gosh sake. and give some pertinent info.

Actually, according to my samples received from Steele, it is the cheaper one. I still think they should be embarrased of their website.
