I am looking to put a used seat in my 56 chevy 3100 rather than recover the old one. Question is does a bench seat from a later model pick up fit or do I have to look for bucket seats?

Get out your tape measure and head to your local Pick-a-Part. Bolt holes won’t line up but that’s why you own a drill.🛠

Check out the bench seats from the early 90's. Simple but effective and you keep the classic bench seat look. In my 55.1 COE I'm using 2016 Honda Odyssey minivan 2nd row bucket seats. They are very slightly wide for the AD trucks but fit the wider Task Force trucks better.

I used somewhere around 2002 Silverado/Tahoe bucket seats in my 41 because they have build in seat/shoulder belts and fold down arm rests. But the 41 is by no means "original".

1988 to 1998 full size GM Truck bench seat works. I got a Bench from a 1998 single cab . Seat back pivots down as well to get behind the seat. The seat base that was on the 1998 seat was just the right height. Drill 4 holes and bolt in.

The truck is just off the seat vendors website. It's a VERY purple 1954 Chevy pickup.

here are a couple pictures of that 98 Truck seat in my 50, I like that the seat back is almost the same height as the original and does not sit up higher then the rear glass,

Tophat,

If you're looking for the vendor for the seat in the purple truck he's out of Santa Barbara, CA. He goes to lots of big swap meets.

455lark, thanks for showing yours, i'm going to get one for myself. All i have is the original frame, no sliders, cushions or valance, so I think it will be cheaper in the long run to go with a late model seat. did you have any issues with it being a little wider?
