66 suburban, dark brown (don't have actual color name on hand) dash, I believe 10% gloss. The dash had the original paint on it, but I had to repair some cracks at the glove box corners and a couple of other minor things. I have since scuffed, cleaned and sprayed it with an etching primer from a rattle can. Do I need to do a better primer before color? This is not a show vehicle, just keeping it original.

I don't think a dark brown dash color is original. Is it?

you don't really need etching primer over steel or old paint. But, to answer your question, a lot depends on what type of paint you are putting over the primer. Sometimes, if you use a different type of paint, it can crinkle or life the primer. If you get it smooth, and the paint lays down fine over it, you should be fine.

Bartamos, yes, the dark brown, pretty much the color of chocolate is the original dash color, which is also inside the glove compartment and also under the build sticker.

Mike: I have used an Omni single stage on the firewall, and was real happy with the outcome. As I mentioned in the previous post, I have read on the paint sheet that the dash paint was 10% gloss. I don't know if this can be done with Omni paint, but if so, that is what I would assume I would use.
