hi i am taking the cab off my 1949 chevy truck and i have emptied the cab completly and i have pulled the steering wheel off. i am just wondering what is easier to do, pull the cab up the steering collum or take the steering box off the frame. How do i pull the steering box off the frame? thanks for any advice.

When I took mine off, I removed the column support bracket from inside the cab, removed the pitman arm from the steering box and removed the bolts mounting it from frame. When the cab was jacked up I slid the steering column out of the cab.

That way was just easier for me.

I did the same as Dave on my 49.

Speaking of cabs guys...has anyone used a 48 cab and fabed the 49 rear mounts on the 48 cab with success and how hard was it?
