Just wanted to let everyone know about Jim Carters Truck Parts. Great people to work with. I had a small problem with a part that I wanted to return; they could have hit me with restocking fees etc. but they didn't. This is the kind of service we all want when we work with someone. Just wanted to share a good experience!

Jim Carter is a true old Chevrolet truck asset.

Unfortunately, his various attempts to set up a useful "web store/site" have been admirable, but not user friendly.

He & his company will try to take care of you/us.

Jim has long been a good friend of Stovebolt.com so thanks for giving him your business. He is a very nice man, a true gentlemen and one of "us."

He will even take Canadian dollars at par, at least he did for me.

I can say I have purchased from Jim and met him at the Portland swap meet. A really nice man.
I have been satisfied with his parts. I recently ordered a complete interior for my 53, the seat cover took about 2 months to arrived but it was very well cut and sewn and the fit perfect, the color was maroon and exceptional. The color match with the door panels and arm rest was perfect. What more can I say, my truck looks superb inside thanks to Jim Carter. BTW, there is no reason why a novice could not fit and install these seat covers.

I have ordered from them lots of times,easier to deal with on a phone call and extremely helpful,I cheated on them once and recieved the wrong parts that had nothing to do with what I ordered,lesson learned. Great people to do business with.

Carter's is the only place I found wheel bearings for a 4400 series big Bolt fantastic service good place to deal with

Had the opportunity to meet Jim Carter and associate at the Iola Car Show. Asked many questions of him and he patiently and thoroughly answered them all.
I’ve ordered many parts from them and have always been satisfied. Once the wrong part was shipped to me, I called and had the replacement in 2 Days.
I agree with Tim, their website needs to be reworked as it isn’t user friendly. They should re-vamp that. May improve their sales. As a fall back, I refer to the catalog I have at home first. :-)

1954/55 GMC 350 (2-ton) COE: I have usually found wheel bearing, axle bearings, drive-shaft parts, brake parts, and a few other mechanical parts from Rockauto.com and NAPA (especially if I could first find part numbers).

I get part numbers from Master Parts Catalog, oldGMCtrucks/Stovebolt members, Spanky, Stovebolt.com members, and Internet searches.

For other parts:

Jim Carter has usually been my first choice for parts (for over 20 years) - he has been selling parts since the early 70s.
It is unfortunate that his website is quirky - this is the 3rd or 4th generation of his website. The first generation was mirror images of each page in his excellent hard-copy catalog. You had to spend time moving through it, but it was logical and informative.
Myfriendly joke regarding his various generations of "upgraded" on-line catalogs: he hires needy relatives to do web design/programming/testing.

Jim Carter is about as nice a person and as knowledgeable a person/vendor as you will ever meet.
The people who work for him are friendly and helpful.
His parts are almost always "correct", but they have not always been "correct". He almost always makes good on problems/mistakes.
He is an asset to Chevrolet/GMC truck owners/"restorers".
