ready to install the rear view mirror in my 65/3200. The bottom of the bracket sits on the windshield rubber,is this correct? should I cut a piece out of the rubber? a photo would help. There was a hole cut in the overhead (radio install) I patched that,so am starting from scratch.

No. The original did not infringe on the windshield rubber.
