This has Fenton headers and 32/35 Weber from Langdon's stovebolt, Was bored .040 over and new Rockers and rocker shafts. May go for a long drive Sunday, as we have no snow. Do I follow the 49 Op Manual and drive no more than 35 MPH for the 1st 100, 45MPH for the next 200 and 50 MPH for the last 200-then change oil? Thanks for your input...Bill

The '49 manual was written giving break in instructions for a babbit pounder. There is a good chance the instructions will be different for a full pressure engine.

| | | | | Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,272 Renaissance Man | | Renaissance Man Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,272 | What does the machine shop recommend for breaking in the engine? Most of them recommend breaking in the cam by running the engine at 2,000 RPM for 20 minutes before you ever drive it.
Breaking in a rebuild is different than for a new engine. A new engine has all new parts. A rebuild has an old block with a myriad of new parts and reconditioned old parts.
