can anyone identify this starter? It is similar to the one on my 56,but not foot activated. It may not be a GM starter.

Hy Midpiner, that starter could be for a six cylinder equipped with a Hydramatic transmission, or it could be from an Oldsmobile, Pontiac, Cadillac or Buick car. If you could tell us the colour of the tag on the starter and the starter number we could be more precise in identifying the starter.

Unfortunitly no tag.no numbers.Only number I find is 190 .Probably a casting number. 12 volt is on the selonide. I don't know where I got the starter??

I am pretty sure that is a 1957-62 Chevrolet passenger car 235 starter.
