I did the 4 inch drop. As dave stated, check your scrub line more than once! With my stock rims/tire size, my axle will sit 1/2 inch off of the ground. If rubber is off the rim, I am plowing asphalt! Be careful! I couldn’t afford the bigger white wall tires/rims or I would have been right on like I planned. I am happy with the stance but wish I would have gone 3” instead. See my pictures, front is stock solid axle. 3” drop in the back.
You need to measure the length of the shock you need. My guess is yes. If you go the droppedaxle.com route, everything stays pretty much the same, easier and cheaper in my opinion. Sid is very good!
Not sure I would want to remove 3 inches of suspension travel from my front suspension...which is what happens when you use lowering springs as opposed to dropping the axle.
When your truck is sitting on it's wheels, how much clearance do you have right now between the frame and the front leaf spring bump stop?

Thanks, you can purchase a 3” dropped axle on the Internet. Here is an example. https://www.ebay.com/i/261842713723?chn=ps&ul_ref=http%253A%252F%252Frover.ebay.com%252Frover%252F1%252F711-117182-37290-0%252F2%253Fmpre%253Dhttps%25253A%25252F%25252Fwww.ebay.com%25252Fi%25252F261842713723%25253Fchn%25253Dps%2526itemid%253D261842713723%2526targetid%253D400144708233%2526device%253Dm%2526adtype%253Dpla%2526googleloc%253D9052271%2526poi%253D%2526campaignid%253D1027360046%2526adgroupid%253D48124590942%2526rlsatarget%253Dpla-400144708233%2526abcId%253D1130046%2526merchantid%253D6568124%2526gclid%253DCj0KCQiAv_HSBRCkARIsAGaSsrCJOBjhn7PZcn1x2wVYtBDhkQeSMal_SO5kWNtZPrWH55nurm945eYaAhN5EALw_wcB%2526srcrot%253D711-117182-37290-0%2526rvr_id%253D1416980707025
I used 3" posies at the front and rear along with a 3" drop from Sid's Axles. For shocks, I called Posies, and they gave me the correct front and rear shock replacement model in order to work with the lowered springs and reduced travel. Came out pretty good. I have no idea how it compares to the original lever shock and springs, but it seems to ride pretty smooth and isn't the "horse buggy" some folks said it would be...
I have seen that manufactured drop axle that nukid listed (from Summit or Jeg's I think) for sale for our trucks, but it looks a little bit hinky to me in the picture.... but might be worth looking at. Only trouble is that since no modified steering arms are offered, it's kinda useless on its own. But you wouldn't be paying shipping two ways on an axle to the USA. Maybe Sid can just do the steering arms for you?

I think he said 3” didn’t require steering modifications until you went to 4”. Might have to purchase tie rods, etc. give Sid a call, he will steer you right!
Just had an idea that may help you. See if you can find someone in the US that is changing out their front axle or willing to sell you one for cheap. Have them send it to SID for you. Once Sid is complete, have him send it to you. At least you will save shipping across the pond one direction. Not sure what the overall cost would be, but might be the easiest.
Looks like the easy option is to use Posies superslide springs with 3" drop.Anyone know what shocks to use.I emailed Posies and Summit for advice but neither have bothered to respond.
When I called Posies tech support 800.979.0122 they gave me a Monroe shock reference of #5758 (28-80289) and #5847 (28-80217). I think they said it was the same shocks spec for an old thunderbird, and believe that all you need are the first 4 digit numbers to get them from your local FLAPS.
The truck rides very smooth and I have not bottomed out yet, but have only encountered large speed humps so far. As noted before, I have not ridden in an all original vintage truck with the old springs and lever shocks to judge the before and after, but the 3" drop springs and the shocks they told me to get seem to work well together. it is definitely not a canyon carver or hot rod, but is good for getting around and enjoying!
